Avatar: The Last Airbender is a famed series initially released on Nickelodeon in 2005. The series was so widely received that it got a spinoff series called The Legend Of Korra that was released in 2012, and a live-action movie in 2010. The spinoff series did fine, but the movie however was rejected and many people disliked it, receiving a score 5% on rotten tomatoes. Due to this wide rejection, fans have been asking for another live-action adaptation since the 2010 film flopped, and Netflix is here to deliver. Netflix released the first teaser for their live-action show during Geeked Week this month, and it’s already gaining traction. Fans are excited to see this new adaptation of the series and hope that it’s going to be worth the thirteen-year wait. Personally, as someone who has watched the original animated series twice since it was added to Netflix back in May of 2020, I think that the series is great and I’m hoping that Netflix’s new live-action will serve it justice as well. The new series is set to be released in February of 2024, and only time will tell if Netflix will be able to fulfill fans’ high expectations.
