Ex-One Direction member, Zayn Malik allegedly struck Yolanda Hadid and pushed her into a dresser, causing both physical and mental pain. Yolanda is the grandmother of Zayn’s one-year-old daughter, Khai, and the mother of his then girlfriend, Gigi Hadid.
Gigi left Khai in Yolanda’s care, while she was away in Paris. Yolanda reported to TMZ that Zayn “struck” her and was telling her to get away from his daughter. At that time, she did not report it to the law enforcement. Zayn later responded to the allegations on Twitter stating “in an effort to protect that space for [my daughter] I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago….”. While Zayn, first denied the claims, he was later charged with four counts of harassment.
While he is receiving a lot of hate, many One Direction fans have been supporting him. Yolanda has a problematic past including forcing her kids to go on a diet, and making racist remarks. Some people don’t believe her accusations, and have sided with Zayn, who has a relatively “clean” history.
Gigi and Zayn ended their five year relationship due to this case, but have had prior history of breaking up and getting back together. They are currently working on co-parenting their daughter.
