Bulldogs Crush Warriors During Monteith Tip-Off Classic

The Bulldogs held their annual Richard Monteith Tip-Off basketball game, and both teams absolutely dominated the competition. 

The Mr. Monteith Tip-Off Classic is a Holbrook tradition, commemorating the tragic death of Richard Monteith, a former teacher at Holbrook. To learn more, be sure to check out Derek Fox’s segment that remembers Monteith’s legacy: https://codebluehmhs.org/8206/news/remembering-mr-monteith/.

Both teams played against the SSCA Warriors, and they dominated both games, both teams leading the entire game. 

The girls game consisted of main offense from Mary Walker, Emma Tran, and Alyssa Slamin. Their defense as well as exceptional from players such as Railyn Muse, Madison Burnett, and Kierra Wilson. Their final score ended was 37-24, which will now bring the girls’ record to 4-4. Keep it up girls!

The boys especially didn’t hold back during this game. Not only was it the Monteith Tip-Off, but it was also the game where senior and captain Owen Burke was able to reach his ultimate goal of 1,000 points in his basketball career. Notable plays were made by not only Owen Burke, but also Marquis Dobay-Lindsay, Allen Brown, Armani Perkins, Cameron Campbell, and Jalik Fernandes. Not to mention the performance of their JV players throughout the game such as David Green, Josiah King, and Parsons Janvier. The boys ended with a final score of a whopping 61-32, which will bring their record to 7-1! Amazing job for the boys! 

The next girls game will be held on January 18th at 5 PM against Bishop Connolly, while the boys will also go to Bishop Connolly at 5:30 PM. Be sure to show your support for your Bulldogs at their upcoming games! Keep up the good work Bulldogs!
