Damar Hamlin in Critical Condition

A game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals was planned to be an intense fight for the number one seed in the AFC. However, all plans for this changed early into the first quarter of the game when the Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, collapsed following a tackle from the Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Immediate medical attention was given to Hamlin, and he was transported to the UC medical center in Cincinnati. The live reaction had many fans feeling shocked and scared for Hamlin’s well-being. It has been reported that the 24-year-old went into cardiac arrest after the tackle, and had to have his heartbeat restored on the field. The following morning, the Bills released a statement saying that Hamlin is “sedated and listed in critical condition.”

However, since the events that occurred on Monday night, thousands of fans and people who sympathize with the situation, have donated millions of dollars to Hamlin’s community fundraiser which was created to buy toys for kids in need. Hamlin’s original goal to raise $2,500 for his community has since then exceeded that amount by millions of dollars.

Fans continue to support and keep Hamlin in their prayers while he fights to get better. The family has asked for their privacy during this difficult time but knows in their hearts that Hamlin is a fighter and will push through.

A new date for the game has yet to be released and the NFL has ultimately decided to postpone it until further notice. There have been no recent updates in terms of Hamlin’s current condition, but his fans and family are hopeful for a speedy recovery.
