Competitive gaming has officially come to Holbrook. CBN reporter Joseph McLaughlin dives deeper into HMHS’s brand new esports team. The team will hold its pilot season during the winter athletics season. They will be competing within the MSAA (Massachusetts Schools Administrators Association) where they will join other Massachusetts schools in state and regional competitions, playing games like Rocket League, Smite, Overwatch, Fortnite, and League of Legends. The teams will consist of five teams made up of 8 players maximum and 1 coach. That adds up toward a maximum of 40 players with 5 coaches. And these teams will have 1 game a week with practice every other day of the week. Coaches, such as Ms. Neary, are excited by the new program saying “ It’s a great opportunity for high school students.” The team’s sign-ups will be extended until January 6th. If you are interested, please email Mr. Gorman or Ms. Neary for more information.
