KerriAnne Luggelle Remembered at Graduation

KerriAnne Luggelle was supposed to be a senior at Holbrook Middle-High School this year, but sadly died of cancer in the fourth grade. Kerri was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer the summer after third grade. She was in and out of the hospital during grade four, while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Kerri passed away on February 26th, 2011.

Sarah Ryan, a senior at HMHS, says that her class used to put a stuffed monkey to put on Kerri’s chair representing her being there with them. The monkey’s name was Señor Cheeko. At the seniors graduation, Señor Cheeko sat in the seat the Kerri was supposed to be in. She also said, “We also had an “orange day” where everyone wore orange t-shirts to show support for her, as orange was he favorite color.”

Kerri featured prominently in Sarah’s valedictorian speech, and was mentioned by many other speakers as well. KerriAnne Luggelle will be missed by many who knew her, but her presence was certainly felt at graduation.
