Students Explore Their Futures at HMHS College Fair

As college application season is in the air, Holbrook Middle-High School’s juniors and seniors recently attended a college fair to aid them in the process. A college fair is when representatives from different colleges come to a school or a community gathering spot and to talk to prospective students about what their colleges have to offer. This tends to be a very important interaction for both the featured colleges and the students that attend said exhibitions.

On October 5th, Friday of Spirit Week, 32 colleges came to the STEAM commons to give Holbrook Middle-High School students information about their institutions. Dressed head to toe in blue in white, students engaged with administrators from schools like Bridgewater State University, Lasell College, Fitchburg State University, and Fisher College.

Dana Nickelson, an administrator that came to represent Bridgewater State University, is alumni of Holbrook Middle-High School. She commented on what it felt like to back, saying “It felt like home and was very welcoming.”

Another administrator, Zack Songer, from Fisher College says, “I enjoy helping students get into school and welcoming everyone.”

One of our guidance counselors, Ms. Katie Cleggett, was in charge of this event. She said, “I hope the students can gain a better understanding of the college application process, find answers to questions they may have about a specific school, and perhaps learn about new schools that may be a good fit for them.”
