Eighth Graders Enjoy Annual Whale Watching Trip

Aaron Cullity, Staff Writer

Every year, eighth-grade students go on a whale watching trip to end the year. This is to supplement reading The Perfect Storm in their English classes and their unit on whales in their science class. For many, this year’s trip was an incredible experience. The Class of 2022 saw a great number of whales including a minke whale, two finback whales, and Shuffleboard, the name of the humpback whale they always observe. In addition, two Atlantic white-sided dolphins were spotted, which is usually rare to see.

Layla Carter, who went on the trip said, “Besides getting seasick, it was pretty enjoyable to see some whales and hang out with my classmates.”
