Lunch Lady Appreciation

Lunch+Lady+Appreciation

If you’ve ever asked a group of students what they think about the school lunch, you would receive a number of answers. Things like “the lunch sucks” or “I’m bringing my lunch tomorrow.” It’s easy to complain, but if you tried to do what the lunch staff does day after day, you’d realize it’s not that easy.

I realized sooner or later that we need to stop complaining and try to do something ourselves. When I felt like I’d had enough of cafeteria food, I decided to make my own lunch instead. It wasn’t very difficult considering it was a sandwich with bagged snacks, but it took me about four minutes and it tasted delicious. In my opinion, it was better than the school’s lunch, so I promised myself that I would do it every day.

If I’m being completely honest, though, I gave up on the second day. After wallowing around my house, I realized that the lunch ladies have to do this every day and also deal with us.

After that, I simply dealt with the lunch and if I remember, I try to say, “thank you” every time. By making my own lunch, I realized that the cafeteria staff are honestly some of the most patient people in the world.
