Holbrook students started celebrating Halloween with the Monster Mash, an annual event hosted by the Holbrook Music Parents Association. The dance is geared towards elementary school students, and its name comes from the popular song by Bobby Pickett. Tonight, the students enjoyed games, crafts, dancing, and much more. The kids also dressed up in their Halloween costumes – everything from cats to witches to superheroes – and danced to popular songs, like the Cha Cha Slide, Thriller, and, of course, Monster Mash. At each station, candy, tattoos, and stickers were given as rewards for participating.

While the event had previously been in the high school’s cafeteria, it was in the John F. Kennedy School’s cafetorium this year. Some people thought that the new space felt a little cramped, but, overall, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Many high school students volunteered at the event, including, Junior, Amanda West. When asked about her experience, she said, “It was nice to see all the kids having fun and it was a pleasure to help out. I’ll definitely do it again next year!”
