Open AI is an artificial intelligence research and development company who aims to benefit the general public by utilizing AI in a number of ways. Recently, two of their products have taken social media by storm: ChatGPT and DALL-E 2, but what are they and why are they rapidly gaining popularity.

ChatGPT is a conversational Artificial Intelligence application developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT is capable of composing music, defining things, constructing essays, answering questions, correcting code, and more. ChatGPT has gained much publicity on social media sites like Tiktok for its ability to assist students in their academic tasks such as composing essays or finding answers to test questions.The application responds based on a database from the internet, making each response unique. Its recent boom in popularity has caught the attention of tech giants like Microsoft, who want to invest $10 billion in the company. Beyond the obvious applications that students are using to get by in school, OpenAI wants to create an artificial intelligence research system that is safe for people to use and beneficial to its use. Being already prepared for bizarre requests from users, ChatGPT has systems in place to be unresponsive when asked dangerous or inappropriate questions. 

Their other development, DALL-E 2 is an Artificial Intelligence art bot, which can create different art pieces from user-inputted descriptions. It also is capable of expanding existing images, which users can upload and have the bot add things to. The database behind DALL-E 2 was trained with 12 million unique images, which are combined to fit user descriptions for a final product. The art AI has already created some amazing images, which look very realistic despite never actually being captured by someone. This has created a whole whirlwind of problems with people trying to copyright images that technically have no artist, but the products are intriguing nevertheless. 

Only time will tell how things pan out for Open AI, but so far their products have seemed very promising. As their platforms grow rapidly with over a million users in their first week, we will see what they come up with in the future as they lead the AI industry.
