Sports have finally returned to HMHS in the form of winter basketball. CBN Reporter Joseph McLaughlin explains the new season, gains some player insight, and updates you on past games. Both the Boys and Girls varsity teams began practicing a couple of weeks ago to prepare themselves for the new season. This season looks much different than previous seasons with the additional protocols such as mask wearing, social distancing on each bench, no beginning tipoff, and no crowd. This unfamiliar environment presents a new challenge for the players and definitely will impact these games. Both varsity teams played their first games on January 13th against SSVOC. The Girls won at home 37-34, with Alyssa Slamin leading the team in points with 13. The Boys lost 70-49 on the road, with Owen Burke leading the team in points with 23.
